Meta Hospital is a virtual immune system, a recycling station for emotional and biological waste, sorting our world between reality and the virtual. Identity-less characters emerge and mutate under the caring gaze of avatar-doctors.
Freely inspired by Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Research (destroyed in 1933) and philosopher Thomas Pradeu’s immunological research (CNRS), the work proposes a sensitive journey where regeneration and metamorphosis unfold through bodily fluids, microbiota, and marginalized beings, creating new solidarities.
Combining drawings, 3D modeling, still and animated images, Valentin Ranger constructs a fertile and welcoming world—an ecosystem of alternative balances that redirects the chaos of reality.

Chem’s Back Trauma transposes my universe into the institutionalized space of the hospital, reflecting on how medical frameworks regulate and support bodies in states of fragility. Inspired by Michel Foucault’s Les Anormaux, the video unfolds through slides, juxtaposing fragmented bodies with moments of care and comfort. Echoing the simultaneously communal and isolating nature of queer «Chem’s parties,» the work confronts the rigidity of medical normativity with fleeting yet vital utopias of sexual freedom. The Orgiax appear here as witnesses to this duality, embodying a reality where vulnerability becomes a source of resilience, affection, and solidarity within the body’s liminal spaces.

Prelude to Genesexus: The Blood Community continues the exploration of the contemporary body, this time from a physiological perspective. Facing upheavals in our environment, the film investigates the reciprocal mutations between the human body and the world surrounding it.
The video opens with a flayed, levitating Vitruvian Man, gateway to a teeming universe where spatial exploration and immersion into our own entrails intertwine. Through a succession of scenes punctuated by psychedelic interludes, the work blurs scales and boundaries between microcosm and macrocosm. Hybrid creatures, anthropomorphic forms, and transparent plays create a surrealist narrative, constantly oscillating between chaos and meticulous precision.





EROMORPHOSIS

Eromorphosis: Lovers in Bloom is a luminous ode to the birth of a new ecosystem, where human and plant bodies merge to create a new interspecies avatar: the Orgiax. In the selected excerpt, these hybrid beings come into existence and speak their first words to the viewer: «We are made for love.» Designed for tenderness and connection, these bodies reflect on transformation and communion between species and environments. This film celebrates softness and metamorphosis in a poetic universe of 3D entities, otherness, and magnificent monsters. It is accompanied by a therapeutic soundscape—composed of slow frequencies for the viewer—where nature, bodies, and imagination intertwine.

In this first 3D film, What is the dream of people who can not reach into the sky? Invites viewers to enter a body to witness the spread of a virus—HIV—and the mutations it induces in living matter. The artist’s voice guides this exploration, contrasting two possible outcomes following the infection: the old world—dark, a territory of exclusion and isolation—and a luminous path opened by pharmaceutical innovations, embodying hope and integration. This microscopic journey questions concepts of biological identity, rejection, and social reinvention through virtual avatars.
The video is frequently accompanied by aluminum ex-votos, inspired by anatomical forms—cells, bacteria, or viruses—that constitute our bodies.
